Describe yourself in one sentence.
A highly opinionated introvert with a knack for makeup.
We love your YouTube videos! Which YouTuber do you follow for inspiration?
I love to watch Kathleen Lights. Many of my videos are inspired from hers.
When you are confident and kind, you are your most beautiful self.
You call yourself a full-time makeup enthusiast. Do you remember what was the first makeup product you experimented with when you were young?
Depends how young is “young”! When I was around 7 I got my first lip balm from AVON. I loved it. It had Strawberry Shortcake on it. In my teens, I started using mascara and eyeliner but that’s about it. I really started to get invested in makeup in my twenties, to be honest.
If you were stuck on an island and you could only bring 3 makeup products, what would they be?
Blusher, brow pencil, lip tint; hands down.
Any beauty secrets you can share with us?
Let’s be real, I’m really not good at this. Haha! I honestly don’t think I even have a “beauty secret” to share right now. Sorry!
I get compliments on my looks every now and then (alhamdulillah) and I just wanna tell them “Hey, you can look like this too, you know?”
Complete this sentence: To me, true beauty is…
Confidence and kindness – and these two come hand-in-hand. It’s the way you speak, the way you carry yourself, the way you respect others. When you are confident and kind, you are your most beautiful self.
What inspired you to start your own YouTube channel?
I just had these makeup looks that I love to wear and I just wanted to share it with other people, really. I get compliments on my looks every now and then (alhamdulillah) and I just wanna tell them “Hey, you can look like this too, you know?”
You do a lot of beauty-related videos on your channel such as reviews, watches, OOTDs, tutorials and challenges. Any plans to expand the kinds of videos on your channel?
As of now, I don’t. I really wanna focus on beauty-related subjects on my channel for now. It’s what I’m good at anyways (at least I think so).
Work hard towards your goals. But if you end up disappointing yourself, be content knowing that you have tried your best.
As a Zahara Warrior, what advice do you have for someone hoping to kickstart their own YouTube channel?
My only advice is, go for it! All you need is to (at least) have a phone and a video editor programme. I started out filming and editing using only my phone and I think it still turned out pretty great! You just have to have the passion for it. Don’t be lazy to learn new things, new techniques, new ideas. And always remember, do it because you like to. That’s what I always remind myself.
If you could go back in time to 5 years ago, what would you tell your former self?
I’d tell myself to be patient. You have your plans but Allah is the greatest of planners. Work hard towards your goals. But if you end up disappointing yourself, be content knowing that you have tried your best.
What brings you the greatest joy?
New makeup! And food. Definitely.
What’s on your bucket list?
To reach 100,000 subscribers and to one day be able to treat my parents to a beautiful vacation because I owe my everything to them.
Check out this fabulous Zahara Warrior on her YouTube channel and don’t forget to follow her on her Instagram and other social media! She does all kinds of makeup/hijab reviews and tutorials so subsribe to her and show her some love!
