Nabila Asyiqin (@nabila_asyiqin) is making major waves in the Muslimah fashion community. She’s a successful model with a love and talent for her work. Zahara had the pleasure of working with Nabila twice so far and it’s safe to say not only are we big fans of her work, she is great fun with a bubbly personality which is so hard not to fall in love with.

She’s edgy, trendy and super open. Nabila is a great breath of fresh air. Refreshing to speak to about the true nature of the fierce industry she works in. She is a true embodiment of a Zahara Warrior.

Get to walk in the shoes of a sought after Muslimah model here in Malaysia.

Zahara: This is not your first time working with Zahara. Do you mind sharing a little bit about yourself and what you do?

I’m a full-time Muslimah model and I also love traveling around. I’m 24, and currently staying in Kuala Lumpur.

Zahara: Describe yourself in 3 words.

Unpredictable/random, headstrong, tough/independent

Zahara: Do you have a daily routine or is it different every day?

Different. As I am currently working as a freelance model, I am not glued to any kind of schedule. Sometimes I work for the whole week and take time off when I want to.

Zahara: When did you decide to pursue modeling?

3 years ago when my first client approached me for my first studio photoshoot. I decided to give it a try since I’ve been into fashion and photography when I was still in high school.

Zahara: What are some challenges you have faced?

Crazy, restless days of working but some days, it’s fine. Also, having a photo shoot session in the cold winter weather without getting to wear any winter coat or proper clothing - which is crazier!

Zahara: What’s the best part about your job?

Explore to the media, television and getting sponsored to travel.

Zahara: What’s something that you didn’t like about your job at first but grew to appreciate over time?

Having to play with characters. I’m more keen for editorial, edgy moods but sometimes clients prefer me posing “cute and girly”. In time, I learned that it’s a job after all. So, as a model, I have to be able to adapt to any kind of character I’m supposed to be.

Zahara: Do you have any advice for girls who aspire to go into modeling?

Be sure you really are PASSIONATE instead of only wanting the money, fame and spotlight.

Zahara: What’s your skincare secret?

No secrets! Just exfoliate often and moisturize!

Zahara: You also do makeup very well. Do you have any tips for us?

Always keep in mind that: less is more. I have always prefered the natural look so I’m more for playing with brown, earthy colour palettes.

Zahara: Must have makeup item you take with you everywhere?

Brow products and lippies!

What a pleasure to get to know! You can find more of Nabila’s work on her separate Instagram (@nabilasyiqin.work). Being a model is not just having a pretty face as Nabila has explained. You need to have tenacity and endurance for long working hours in difficult working conditions.

Her story is inspiring for all of us because we learn what can happen when you choose to pursue something you love and also put in the hard work you need to stay ahead of the competition and thrive. Nabila has demonstrated her versatility and creative flair in her work which we can’t get enough of!

We hope you enjoyed a little look at the life of a busy model. It’s not every day that you get to hang out and talk to a successful Muslimah model and we certainly learned lots!

Do stick around to find out who will be our next Zahara Warrior this Amazing April.

Till next time!

Love from,

Zahara.
