Nurfarhana is one name that you’ll definitely be seeing a lot more in 2016. This 24-year old actress and host has garnered quite a range of on-stage experiences under her slim belt: from talent competitions like One Minute of Fame to serious dramas like Rima Hatiku on Suria. It’s no wonder Nurfarhana feels the stage is like a second home as she is a theatre arts graduate from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. This talented missus even won two awards during Pesta Perdana (the Malay version of the Golden Globe Awards) for her role in Belah Hati! Her intimate and often-funny posts on Instagram feels like a behind-the-scenes tour of her life (which may include actual behind-the-scenes of her current TV shows!) It’s clear her fans are loving it as she has over 18 thousand Instagram followers. Who can guess that she was a shy child growing up? Zahara had an opportunity to chat with this up-and-coming actress, who is currently working on a period drama called Bunga Tanjung on Suria.

Nurfarhana plays the lead role in the latest Suria drama, Bunga Tanjong.

Give us three words to describe yourself.
Really REALLY talkative!

What inspired you to start acting?
My mum. She was the reason why I am where I am today. I was a shy kid. The kind that hid behind my parents when other people were around. My mum put me through drama classes and whatnot to boost my confidence. From then on, my interest grew and my desire to act, learn and to share what I’ve learnt with other kids became stronger.

How has the experience been thus far?
Definitely breathtaking. So much has happened and it’s a lot to take in, but I am ever so grateful, alhamdulillah. I’m always put with people who are sincere and willing to share their experience and knowledge.

What projects do you have lined up next?
I guess the one that is most recent is Bunga Tanjong that will be aired on 8th March, 9.30 p.m. only on Suria. (The show aired its premiere episode last night! – Zahara) I’ve also got an OKTO show coming up which is kind of exciting because I’ll be working with puppets! Hehehe…

Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time?
In 10 years, I’d be 35. HOPEFULLY I’D BE MARRIED WITH KIDS! Hahahahaha….But all jokes aside, I’m hoping I’d be able to start my own company or have a studio for kids who never got an opportunity to practice their crafts and for me to conduct speech & drama classes. Before I achieve that, I have a whole lot of learning to do.

As a Zahara Warrior, what advice would you give someone who wants to pursue acting
It’s never going to be easy. There will always be a point where you want to give up but…YOU MUST NOT! Have faith, learn and continue to kick ass! (Am I allowed to say that?) Focus on yourself and your craft. Think about what you can do to challenge yourself to be better. Be yourself and do things sincerely from the heart. Remember to HAVE FUN and don’t be afraid to try. #gojer When you’re too stressed out or pressured you won’t be able to function! So relax…and absorb as much information as u can. Have fun!

And lastly, what’s your beauty secret?
Keep yourself healthy! Sufficient rest, proper meals, regular exercise…Oh! And smiling a lot to keep the positive energy going!
