Ofiellia Iskandar; model, social media influencer, YouTuber, student. This young Zahara Warrior (who just turned 23!) has racked up quite a stellar celebrity status under her very slim belt. With close to 50,000 views on her YouTube channel and over 40,000 Instagram followers, Ofiellia is one name to look out for! Currently based in Melbourne for her studies (she’s taking Economics and Business at RMIT University), she is busy enjoying her life as a student overseas. Here is an exclusive interview with this gorgeously talented Zahara Warrior as she shares with us the best coffee haunts in Melbourne, her beauty secrets as well as the best advice she’s ever gotten!

Ofiellia proving to you that one of the most flattering poses is an over-the-shoulder!

What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
People might be surprised I have a big appetite. I probably eat more than one’s whole family put together. When I meet new people, they would be surprised to see the amount of food I eat. I just love to eat and try new food.

Describe a typical weekday for you.
I’m not a morning person (something I’m not proud of but I just can’t change that), so I would always wake up around 11 or 12, get ready, put my makeup on, have lunch and go to class. My university is just a three-minute walk from my place so there isn’t a problem waking up 30 minutes before class starts. After uni, I would go home, cook dinner or sometimes have dinner outside (depends on how I feel), watch TV and read, do some revision and will hit the sack around 3 in the morning. On my off days, I would go see my friends and just walk around the city.

Exploring Australia, her home-away-from-home

You’re living in Australia now. How is Melbourne different from your birthplace, KL? Any cool spots we should know of?
Melbourne is definitely a nice place to stay. Melbourne was voted as one of the most livable cities in the world. You can basically find anything here! Everything’s here, you name it! Well, except for authentic Malaysian food. If you’re the type of person who loves Malaysian food, there might be a slight problem then. I could write for pages about why I love Melbourne! Here are some reasons:

– The weather here is amazing except for winter because I’m not a big fan of winter. In KL, it’s humid and hot every single day.
– The cute cafes! Melbourne is known for their cute cafes and cool brunch spots. If you ever visit Melbourne and are looking for a good brunch spot, do go try Hardware Societe and Seven Seeds. If you’re a big fan of coffee, please go try Market Lane and Brother Bubba Budan.

What should every woman try at least once in her life?
I would say travel alone but that would be so cliché. So I would say dyeing your hair red. I’m pretty sure you remember when Rihanna had this really nice red hair right? Well, after obsessing over her hair for months, I went to the salon and dyed my hair red.

We love your makeup tutorials on YouTube (and we’re not the only ones)! Do you have anything exciting lined up?
Unfortunately, I don’t have anything exciting lined up!

What would you say to making a makeup tutorial with all Zahara products?
With all Zahara products?? I would love too! I love trying new products and colours. That would be such an amazing opportunity.

Do you remember when you first fell in love with makeup?
I fell in love with makeup when I first got to Melbourne. I see all these beautiful girls with makeup on and started watching makeup tutorials every single day. I was obsessed with watching makeup tutorials! Sometimes I spend my nights watching beauty tutorials. I love eye makeup so much. I don’t do much contouring because I would always focus on the eyes. So after a few months, I slowly started buying makeup products. I still remember back then, I would practice doing eye makeup every day especially the eyeliner. Fun times. Always remember, practice makes perfect.

Her squad is cooler than ours

As a Zahara Warrior, what advice would you give someone who wants to start her own YouTube channel?
GO FOR IT! I have friends who have been wanting to start a YouTube channel but keep on delaying for some reasons. Here’s my advice, just go for it, girl! If you keep delaying, you would never ever ever create one. If that’s what you really want to do, don’t be shy and try not to care if people throw hate on you. Never let other people bring you down. Also, never give up. At first everything, like filming, editing, etc., may be impossible but never give up! Just go for it!

Speaking of advice, what’s the best advice you’ve been given?
Treat others how you want to be treated. We should treat each and everyone equally in this world.

Who are your style icons?
My style icons are Olivia Palermo, Victoria Beckham and Kendall Jenner.

The birthday girl with her to-die-for cake!

Any beauty secrets you can share with us?
Turmeric masks. It does wonders! I love this mask because I’m prone to acne. I personally think it reduces the acne scars and my inflamed skin. Not forgetting it kinda makes your skin glow too. You can make this mask at home!

– manuka honey (I use manuka honey because it’s good for the skin)
– one teaspoon of turmeric
– half a teaspoon of yogurt (preferably greek yogurt)
– Mix the ingredients together and apply it to your face for 10 minutes!

Complete this sentence: To me, beauty is…
Confidence and being comfortable in your own skin.

Looking forward to the future…
