With a nickname like Sizzling Suzai, you can bet this Zahara Warrior is a firecracker! A young engineer hailing from Malaysia, Suzai got her start as a fashion and lifestyle blogger due to her roommate’s advice in 2009. Fast-forward six years later, she just wrapped a photoshoot with popular Hijabsta Magazine as one of the top 8 hijabi fashionistas in Malaysia! She’s the embodiment of passion and perseverance and we’re very proud to name her this week’s Zahara Warrior! Read on to find out more about Suzai, her love for Hindi films and her thoughts on style and beauty.
If you were an animal, what would you be? Why?
Gosh, it’s the first question and it’s already hard for me to answer wisely! Haha! OK, I’d pick dragon since I was born in 1988, the year of the dragon. I guess I inherited the dragon’s personalty too; bold, a natural leader and hot-tempered!
What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
Although I’m a dragon, I’m a crybaby too! Haha! Seriously, I’ll cry whenever I watch Hindi movies as they’re really good at playing with your emotions. Trust me! Did I mention that I’m a BIG FAN of Bollywood films? Or any sad movies, including the recent “Train to Busan”. I was crying real hard!
Describe a typical weekday for you.
Messy!
9 a.m.- 6 p.m.: I’m a full-time engineer so I juggle that with my blog; replying emails, WhatsApp messages and any other urgent needs. People usually think I’m a full-time blogger. Haha!
6 p.m. – 11 p.m.: I usually prefer going for events on weekdays after working hours. So this are 4 hours for any events or venues I have to attend in KL. And finally have a late dinner at the Mamak shop!
12 a.m. – 2 a.m.: Blogging!
2 a.m. – 8 a. m.: My beauty sleep!
Repeat this for 5 times a week! Haha!
Be comfortable with yourself because, once you are, you’ll gain confidence. And you can rock anything then!
What inspired you to start your own blog?
I should actually thank my dear university roommate, Sis Liyana Adam. She’s the one who introduced me to Blogspot and pushed me to share my routine as a student back in 2009! My first event was in 2010 and that was the point when I started to getting serious about being a blogger!
Where do you see yourself (and your blog) in 10 years’ time?
Just like Chiara Ferragni!
Describe your style sense.
Streetstyle mania! Effortlessly cool everyday looks but I can be glamorously chic for a fashion event! Haha I have styles that are juxtaposed but I think I can pull off both quite well! Hehe!
Who are your style icons?
Andy Torres, founder of StyleScrapbook.com!
Cliché I know, but beauty is confidence!
As a Zahara Warrior, what advice would you give someone who is looking to change their style?
Don’t follow others! You may follow the trends but don’t blindly follow them. Customise them to suit you and be comfortable with yourself because, once you are, you’ll gain confidence. And you can rock anything then!
What should every woman try at least once in her life?
Get married to a man who treats her like a queen! That is my dream so pray for me ok? Amin. Hehe! I believe that no matter how high your education, how good your salary is, how far you’ve travelled…if you don’t have a partner to share things with, it’s quite worthless. Sorry, I’m a hopeless romantic!
Complete this sentence: To me, beauty is ______.
Cliché I know, but beauty is confidence!
