Hello spooky sisters! Halloween is just around the corner and in the makeup world, it’s the biggest day for creativity and fun. On this special occasion, it’s time to show off all your FX (special effects) skills and artistic precision. Some of us on the other hand, may not have the best painting skills but that’s okay, it’s always fun to try something new and creative.
Here are a few ideas you can try for this year’s Halloween costume!
1. The 70s inspired

A little glitter and a little glam, you can’t go wrong with a 70s disco themed look. Go for big hair, bell-bottom pants and the highest platform shoes you can find! This look is best paired with a sparkly, glittery eye with shocking pink cheeks and a glossy lip to top it off. For a fun and colourful eye, you can useVintage Romance for a plummy purple look and add some crazy glitter to it!
2. Pop-Art

We’ve seen a lot of people recreate this style of Halloween makeup online and we believe you can do it too! All it requires is some line work and dotting. The unique thing about this makeup is finding the right angles of your face you want to emphasise! Here’s another take on it by a different artist:
3. Spider-eyes!

This is probably the best time of the year for when those spider lashes come in fashion! You can try layering up ourDaredevil Lashes Mascara and waiting in between layers to properly let them dry. This cob-webbed eye is pretty simple to recreate. We recommend you trace your web outline first before decorating and shading! Don’t forget to get yourself a pair of spidery false lashes to really amp up the look!
4. Warrior Warpaint

Put your best face forward with this tribal-inspired warrior look. Here, Rihanna has gone for a messy, smudged red pigment (you can use Warrioror Boss) around her eyes and forehead. She used super black liner to overline her eyes and smudge down the bottom of her eye. With a bright-white face paint, do a quick and simple streak around the corner of your eyes. Accessorise for a warrior princess feel!
5. Blood splatter eyes!
We found this super look eye look from @gem_does_makeup and @abbyrobersartistry on Instagram. Both ladies have unique takes on this bloody eye look but if you want a video tutorial, check out this video done by another artist! Try a mixture of Boss & Warrior together for a long lasting base and some FX fake blood! Don’t worry our lipsticks are eye-safe!
6. Golden Fairy
This ethereal fairy vibe was created by the artist:@georgiaorsex. All you need is a little bit of shimmer and highlight here and there as well as an eyeshadow palette with golden hues. You guessed it,Golden Goddess would be the perfect palette to recreate this look.
7. Red Queen of Hearts
Now, this is what we call a statement look! It might be a bit tricky if you really want to give the illusion of no eyebrows. However, there are many tutorials out there that guide you how to cover up your eyebrows perfectly! Make use of a little red liquid lipstick and you too can be the Queen of Hearts!
8. Jungle Cat
Think bigger and better outside the car-ear headbands! Try a little face paint and start decorating your look with prints. We love this take on a subtle jungle cat by @malalexis! She kept things subtle with a little print around the side of her face and we think that’s a beautiful way to keep it classy!
Which makeup look would you love to try out for fun? We love looking at the artistry that goes into each of these individual makeup looks and how different artists can create different outputs with the same premise! Over the years, Halloween has definitely evolved from the simple face paint to a more complex art with FX makeup being now more commonly available.
We encourage you to get your hands dirty with makeup and paint to see what unique look you can create! Do remember to tag us in your creations and you may even get to see yourself on ourFacebook orInstagram page!
Till next time… Stay spooky!
Love from,
Zahara
