Amal Ramzi Alamuddin now Amal Clooney is definitely a spark of inspiration. Amal is of British and Lebanese nationalities and in 2014 married George Clooney *sigh*. At only 37 she has become well known as a lawyer, activist, and an author! Have we mentioned her style? It is absolutely out of this world, there are even blogs dedicated to blogging what next masterpiece she has pulled off.
Amal Studied at St. Hugh’s College at Oxford University, and began law school in 2000 at the New York University School of Law. After finishing law school she joined the New York law firm Sullivan & Cromwell (one of the top ranked firms in the world), practicing both US and international law! Present day, she works for the Doughty Street firm in England practicing in international law, human rights, extradition, and criminal law, wow that’s a mouthful. A couple of her biggest clients have been the King of Bahrain and Julian Assange from WikiLeaks, she was also involved in the Enron case with Arthur Anderson, yup she is that good.
She continues to blow us away with her outside work involvement, taking on huge advisory roles on top of a demanding career. Amal has worked with Kofi Annan in the past on a United Nations commission on Syria. Acted as counsel in 2013 about the use of drones in counter-terrorist activities. Made huge contributions to the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict initiative. And this year decided to represent Armenia in the European Court of Human Rights in a genocide trial. Amal is nothing but brilliant.
We admire Amal Clooney for her passion and time management and her ability to be involved in so many things. We would love for her insight on where she still finds time to write. Some of her major publications include: The Special Tribunal for Lebanon: Law and Practice, The Anatomy of an Unfair Trial, Will Syria go to the ICC and the list goes on and on!
